With reference to the attached letter from Peto & Radford, we have tested the thermometers which they have supplied and find that they are quite unsuitable for our purpose. We return them herewith. When immersed 1 1/2 inches, they read correctly. However, in our case, the maximum immersion depth is only half an inch, and this causes the above thermometers to read inaccurately, giving a maximum error of 6 degrees with a rising temperature, and a low reading with a maximum of 3 degrees with a falling temperature.
