X4012 The following report gives descriptions of the principal parts of this car in which we are interested : General particulars. Date bought Dec. 1928. Bore and stroke 3¼" X 5" ; 82.5 X 127 mm. 6 cyls. Swept volume 249 cu.ins. ; 4080 c.c.,litres per mile per ton 3400. Compression ratio 5.36/1 (average of 3 cyls.) Firing order 1. 5. 3. 6. 2. 4. Gear ratios : 3.9, 6.98, 12.35/1. 1000 r.p.m. gives 22.2 m.p.h. in top. 60 m.p.h. in top is 2708 r.p.m. Effective tyre circumference 91.25". Tyre size 30" x 6". The induction pipe is exhaust jacketed round the top of the uptake pipe. The engine is mounted on thin layers of rubber, as shown in fig.2. The carburetter is a Stromberg with an air cleaner fitted.
