For the attention of W.A.Robotham,Esq.

Dear Mr.Robotham,

I am writing to ask for help in a problem concerning power transmission through tyres.

We have all the data we want on the actual rolling resistance of tyres, but we would like to know more concerning the efficiency of the tyre as a power transmitter.
For example, supposing a tyre to consume 2 horse power in virtue of its rolling resistance, what h.p. would it consume when transmitting 20 h.p.?

As far as I can make out from the literature on the subject, the general opinion is that tyres function practically perfectly, and that the only loss which is appreciable is that occasioned by a pure rolling resistance.

I should value very much your ideas on this subject, and any data which you could let me have.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,
A Healey
Technical Manager.
