ORIGINAL TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M23.2.23. c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} GOSHAWK 11. CUTOUT ACTUATION. y4269 Replying to By7/P21223., as we pointed out to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} on his last visit, the cutout actuation shewn on N.sch.1304 was not intended for operating a cutout similar to that shewn on N.sch.1358, and is not suitable for it because the actuation does not now require a special toggle, it being Mr. Royce's intention that the springs on the butterfly valves should be the only springs in the system, and the driving lever should pass over it's centre to lock in the open position. Consequently, though sch. 476 puts the operating pedal in a suitable position, we think that the shaft bolted to the back of the gearbox can be simplified. We will send you our suggestions in the course of a day or two. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
