The equivalent gradient surmountable figures given in this memo. represent a hill the car could climb steadily and indefinitely without rushing. This does not mean the car would fail on any hill steeper than this, because, in actual practice, the hill would be rushed, and, provided, it was not long, the car would go up decelerating the whole time and just crawl over the top.
