MALCOLM CAMPBELL - RE HIGHER OUTPUT DYNAMO.

The above owner is asking us for an increased output from his electrical system. He made a similar request some time ago, and as a result his dynamo was modified to the trailed pole system, but he still complains that he cannot balance his lamps.

Malcolm Campbell's driving is mostly done at night, and under these conditions it does not appear to me that the new half charge system will make any essential gain over his present dynamo with trailed poles.

Mr. Cowen is asking us for advice as to whether we can meet the customers request by fitting the new half charge system which is standardised for N.2 series. My view is that he will be very little better off, as he will cut in later, obtain the same maximum peak approximately, and possibly have 10% more output at high speeds i.e. at 60 miles per hour.

Before replying to Mr. Cowen, I would like to have your views on the matter.
