EL/M9.1.31.

As stated by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} the 36 watt headlamp bulbs were considered our official standard having been included in the list of recommended lamp bulbs issued in our EFC1/AD8.1.30 and addressed to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} one or two remarks on the lamp bulbs were made following the list proper.

Owing to the unofficial adoption of 60 watt head lamp bulbs, of the desirability of which we were not at the time informed, we later included such bulbs on the list though we did not give official recommendation.

We agree with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} regarding the suggested 48 watt compromise for the head lamp bulbs for Phantom II, and with the idea of the possibility of such bulbs giving as good a light as the 60 watt bulbs in our present circumstances of dynamo output.

Accordingly we have revised the list of recommended lamp bulbs making separate lists for the Phantom II and 20/25. A copy of each list is attached. We shall be pleased to consider any suggested modification of the list, and if none are put forward perhaps HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} will arrange to include in the Instruction Book, as E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} suggests, such a list of bulbs.
