BENTLEY AND 25/30 WATER PUMP BEND.

Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/AP.13.4.37. we have already tried 'Klingerite' for making the joint, and Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} in his report MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}12/T.21.9.36. a fact which he confirmed at the Conference, stated that he could not make a tight joint.

On the 20.10.36. we instructed 20 rubber jointings, made in D.T.Y.10 specification rubber. This is a hard resilient steam resisting quality of rubber. As far as the Test Department's efforts go they show these to be reasonably satisfactory. We are ordering three gross of these, and passing them to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} to try out as being a better proposition than 'Dermatine' on customers cars, pending the results of the proposal to modify the design.
