Re Armoured Cars.

In reply to yours BJ(Py3)DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}23.10.20, I can assure you that everything possible has been done to ensure that supplies for these cars be delivered to time, but some of our contractors are hampered by extraordinary measures which have been put into force following the strike of Miners and the strike of Transport Drivers.

I give you below a list showing today's position of all the special supplies that we have to get in:-

Wheels & Tyres.

We have already received 500 of the 600 Michelin disc wheels. The Michelin Co. inform us that the other 100 have been despatched from their Works; therefore, if no hold-up occurs in transit, they ought to be here within the next two or three days.

The whole of the drop forgings for the hubs for these wheels were delivered to us some little time ago, but we have had to order additional drop forgings for spares. We expect these to be delivered by the end of this week.

As regards tyres, we have received from the Palmer Co. 300 of the 600 covers and inner tubes. There are also 150 covers and 99 tubes in transit to us and the Palmer Co. have definitely promised that the remainder of the covers and tubes, and all security bolts required, shall be despatched to us this week.

Auxiliary Petrol Tank.

All the material for these, with the exception of a few gauze filters, has been delivered and the few gauze filters which are wanting will be in our possession tomorrow.

Starting Gear.

The 100 Watford magnetos, type C.6, required are already in our possession. Thirty of the 100 hand starter magnetos are in our possession and the other seventy are promised by the Lucas Electrical Co. by the 8th prox. at latest, but this is more or less dependent on their being allowed to run their factory the normal number of working hours per week. Most of the factories in the Birmingham district have had their working hours curtailed to 25 per week, to comply with the order reducing the consumption of fuel, electric current and gas.
