THAMES HOUSE, MILLBANK LONDON, S.W.1 Telephone: VICTORIA 1441 HEAD OFFICE: 135 EAST 42ND STREET NEW YORK, U.S.A 26th April, 1937. W. A. {Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Experimental Department, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} , I saw George Mead the other night and he said that you had returned on the same boat with him. I hope you had a good trip in the States, and I would like to come and see you as soon as you can spare the time. Could you write to me and let me know which day would be convenient for me to come up to Derby. I have also had a long letter from Bartholomew, the Director of our Detroit laboratory, in which he mentions that you visited him and discussed your spark plug problems. I wrote to him and Heron last September on this matter, and they did not inform me that they were experiencing similar troubles in the States, but this may be due to a misunderstanding of the complaint as I put it in my letter, although on referring back to the letter in question I think it fits in with the description of the trouble as you gave it to me. However, Bartholomew appears to have given you a number of points which should be helpful in getting down to the root of the trouble, and I hope that these will be successful in eliminating it. I understood from West a few weeks ago that you were getting more promising results with the K.L.G. ceramic plugs, but I myself have been away for about three or four weeks in Europe and have not been able to visit Derby. Did Bartholomew tell you what they had done about the testing of the set of K.L.G. mica plugs you gave me, and which I sent them some time ago? Yours sincerely, Rod Banks FRB/BB | ||
