Messrs. S. Smith & Sons (M.A.) Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
LONDON, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. F.J. Grose.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 24th April, reference S.10.

We are at present testing the No.2 size oil filter which you sent us, on one of our 25 HP. cars, and the results so far seem very satisfactory.

We should like to know whether you consider this size of filter to be suitable for this car and also to receive any figures which you have of variation of pressure drop with flow on this filter. We require such figures because we might consider feeding certain of our auxiliaries which require perfectly clean oil with oil cleaned by your filter. However, the pressure drop must not be too great in such a case.

We should also like to receive your quotation for such filters suitablefor a 40/50 HP. car, supplied in quantities of 200, and the writer would like to know for his own information your retail price for a filter of this type to suit a 12 H.P. car.

Finally, we presume from your description that it is necessary to fit a new filter every 15,000 miles approximately. Is there any reason why the filter element alone could not be replaced, retaining the filter body, etc. ?

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
