Dear Sirs,

Re: Front Apron - B.50.

It is suggested that on the B.50, the front apron should be produced as a pressing in mild steel, and as part of the coachwork.

We are sending you herewith a detail of the apron FB.4147, in order that you may send it to the body panel makers and obtain a quotation for it in quantities similar to those for the bodies.

We realise that it cannot be pressed in one, and that some welding will have to be done at the points (A), (B) and (C).

This same apron is used on the B.5. car, and would be needed for B.5. standardised bodies, and any custom bodies that may be built either by yourselves or elsewhere.

For other coachbuilders we propose that we would purchase from you a quantity of these aprons.

The thickness of the steel we leave you to fix up with the manufacturers, but we have suggested two gauges, 20.SWG. and 22.SWG. Any features of the design which cause difficulty in manufacture we would be glad to have referred back to us, so that an alteration may be made if possible.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.

A M Harvey Bailey

CHIEF ENGINEER - CHASSIS.
