Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/Cy. [Strikethrough] Re - Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} - Cricklewood. 4.5.37. Sludge in Waterways. There are no holes in the front end of head corresponding to the holes which GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} says silt up, therefore no through waterway and silting may occur. Holes were delated in head on Exp. recommendation, but the holes in block were retained. The effect mentioned in the rear waterways is not shown on cars in the Test Dept. on which mileage is low. Lever Fouling Boss. On all chassis examined in the Test Dept. the lever cleared by .035 to .060. Reverse Bracket. Cars do not leave the Test Dept. with the bracket fitted the wrong way. There is no scheme to prevent the bracket being reversed by anyone outside dismantling the carburetter. Air Leaks. Carburetter bodies have been examined and the threads found to be passable, the threads on some of the plugs could be improved, as only about three threads are in engagement. The carburetter manufacturers are being notified. Broken Joint Washer. Care is taken to see that these locating lugs are correctly engaged in the slots by the Test Dept. but the danger of misalignment has been emphasized. Throttle Spindle. There is no interference with the throttle spindle in the works, and carburetters examined showed no defect of the spindle. Split Corrugations. To be taken up with the Body Builders. Shrinkage of Joint Washer. Suggestion to be handed to Makers. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/A.E.CLARK. | ||
