We have pleasure in confirming that we were to-day favoured with a visit to our showroom by your Tester Inspector Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Frith, who handed us your letter ref: RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/R dated October 22nd asking us to arrange to cancel your order for a Century Buick Saloon, Series 60 in exchange for a Series 40 Buick Saloon, fitted with the new type gear box. We have to inform you that as far as we are concerned, we are very pleased to comply with your request, subject to General Motors of New York being able to arrange the change over of order at the Buick factory. We have to-day cabled New York as follows:- "REFERENCE OUR ORDER BF32 CLIENTS ROLLSROYCE REQUEST ORDER CHANGED TO FORTY SEDAN EQUIPPED WITH NEW TRANSMISSION GEARBOX STOP THEY ADVISE MISTER CHAYNE OF FLINT WILLING ARRANGE SUPPLY." and it would appear to us from the cable you received from Mr. Chayne whom we are aware has given your order his personal attention, that he has held up the preparation of the 60 Saloon, pending your final decision. With regard to the specification of the Series 40 Engine, we would inform you that this has a 30.63 H.P. with a displacement of 248 cubic inches, whereas the Century Saloon originally ordered is fitted with a 37.81 H.P. Engine with displacement of 320.18 Cubic inches. All Buick engines for the new season will be fitted with the new type pistons which the factory describe as: "A modified ALL CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING SPARE PARTS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO THE WORKS. CUSTOMERS' CARS ARE ONLY DRIVEN BY OUR EMPLOYEES AT OWNERS' RISK. PRICES SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. DELIVERIES SUBJECT TO CAUSES BEYOND OUR CONTROL. | ||
