W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

I want to thank you very heartily for your letter of the 16th instant giving me the data for which I asked in connection with the paper to be read before the I.A.E. Some of the observations you make are most useful and suggestive, and although I am writing the paper from the owners' point of view and not from the engineering standpoint, quite obviously a lot of useful material can be requoted. I shall observe your request to refrain from publishing names; indeed, it is the I.A.E. wish that the paper shall be general.

What you mention about thin tyres and small wheels, which in their turn involve small brake drums and thereby lighter weight, is very illuminating.

Quite apart from the paper the information supplied is useful to me in other ways for "The Autocar" and therefore, I am deeply appreciative of your kindness.

With kind regards and hoping to see you again ere long - if only to have my revenge at tennis,

Yours sincerely,
Geoffrey Smith
