Oy3-E-12924 December 9, 1924. Mr. Claude Johnson, Rolls-Royce, Ltd., London, England. (Copy for attention of Mr.F.H.Royce " " " " Mr.E.W.Hives) Dear Sir: Re United Air Cleaner We are forwarding to Derby, directed to the attention of Mr.Hives, a United Air Cleaner, of the largest standard size (2-5/8" thread) which is recommended for an engine of our dimensions. We have already discussed this matter with him, and he has folders of the standard makes in his possession. The cleaner sent is the most popular type, now fitted as standard by over 20 makes of cars. Although our service records show no necessity for such a cleaner in the Eastern part of the United States, there is little question that such a device will be required by individual owners as the cars come to be used more and more in the dirt-road districts of the South and Central West. The difficulty in applying such a device to our car is that the carburetter has three air intakes. We have in mind however that possibly Mr. Hives will be able to try out the device on carburetters of experimental design or of other makes. The cleaner is sent to us free of charge in consideration of return to the makers within reasonable time. Oy. MO/E | ||
