Dear Sir,

re Flexible Flywheel.

We thank you for your letter of Oct. 20th. and Oct. 31st. enclosing prints of two alternative schemes.

With regard to the first scheme, while we agree that the bakelite bush would hold the wheel concentric when new, we wonder what would happen when wear occurs, bearing in mind that this bearing is subject to 'rock' as a result of movement in this wobble sense.

With regard to the second scheme, drawing dated 25.10.38. it will be appreciated that in order to secure balance, it would be necessary to locate the flywheel and hub, when moulding the Hibudine, with an accuracy allowing virtually no tolerance at all, and that contricity would have to be maintained throughout the life of the car.

Please do not think we are trying to crab the idea, we are definitely interested in the possibility of two sense flexibility plus the inherent damping properties of rubber, but we would like to be more convinced with regard to maintained concentricity.

We do not like the taper end to the crankshaft, why not employ a flange fixing something as per rough sketch attached?

Yours faithfully,
