10,000 miles test in France.

We note that you consider the qualities of the petrol in England and France to be about the same.
I had rather gathered from the last paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG26825 that as the cylinders were cleaned before the 10,000 miles India test started and it was detonating after 3,000 miles, and as you mentioned the detonations are chiefly controlled by the type of fuels used, [redacted] that a specially bad fuel was being used in France and that it was probably worse than is usually obtainable here, where one would not expect complaints and detonations after 3,000 miles in the ordinary course of events.
