Potential wear on a clutch bush for the 20/25 HP and Bentley models.

Hancock - Head Chateauroux}19/N.21.2.38. Could you kindly give us some idea of the extent of the wear or slack found in this bush. This bush has never yet been replaced on any car by the Derby Repair Department and it is difficult to understand why it has been found worn, because the movement is quite negligible i.e. being only the small end movement of the driven plate when the clutch is released. It is, therefore, possible that wear may have occurred as a result of the driven plate 'fidgetting' on this shaft. According to drawing this bush is ground to size after fitting and the extreme limits of slack between the bush and shaft are between .001 and .003". Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R.
