Chassis Lubrication ------------------- With reference to the above Depot Sheet the following is a copy of a memo ref. VA.6/ET.24.6.38 from the undersigned to Sr. and which you will find self explanatory. " To Sr. c. to Go. WHA. DK. Levallois VA.6/ET.24.6.38 With reference to the above Depot Sheet, I have paid a visit to Messrs. Castrol of Paris, and Mr.Barnes informed me that Castrol XL as sold in France has a viscosity of 40 and XXL a viscosity of 60. Mr. Barnes also informed me that, at any rate for the time being, they are not going to lower the viscosity of the above two oils, as sold in France, because as he pointed out, the conditions in France are not the same as those in England, meaning that oil temperatures in engines in France are generally higher than those in England, owing to cars being run for longer distances at high speeds in sometimes very hot weather, etc..
