Les Our Ref. WL/OH. Your Ref. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.5/MH. {M. Huckerby} 5th November 1937. Derby Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby. For the attention of Mr. Leslie. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 4th November with reference to your enquiry for small diameter bellows. The length of our standard bellows with an outside diameter of 3/4", to give a movement of 1/8", is 5/8". We have pleasure in quoting you for these as follows :- 4,000 - Bellows, 3/4" o.d. x 5/8" long, sweated to end plates supplied by yourselves. Tested ready for use .... 2/3d each. We have kept the price as low as possible, and hope that it will meet your requirements. As you are aware, we do not advocate extending our bellows beyond their free length, as such movement results in a shorter life, also, after a period, the bellows will not return to their original length. Replying to the last paragraph of your letter, it would be difficult to give you a length of bellows which is to be extended. (contd.)
