(4) OIL SYSTEM. Lr{Mr Ellor}/Lov{Mr Lovesey} reported the results of investigations to date to find the reason for the low oil pressure on Griffon engines. Tests indicate that the oil flow to the crankshaft and bearings is considerably in excess of the Merlin, apparently due to the type of oil grooves employed. Investigation proceeding.

(6) DESIGN AND DETAIL POSITION. There are no design or detail instructions outstanding which will affect the completion date of the first engine.

(7) MOCK UP ENGINES. Griffon II wooden mock up is being used for the purpose of fitting up pipe lines. Agreed to fit up a complete set of engine controls to the mock up - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} to arrange.

(8) MAIN BEARINGS. Shallow oil grooves to be used.

(9) SUPERCHARGER ROTOR. Agreed not to put in hand dies for the 9.75" dia. rotors until tests have proceeded further.

(10) PISTONS. Agreed that the next pistons should incorporate the latest improved features, viz. larger radius between gudgeon pin boss and crown, modified dish in crown, and addition of ribs.

(11) CONTROLS. Lr{Mr Ellor}/Lov{Mr Lovesey} reported that the full analysis of the static and running loads on the controls, requested at the last meeting, had been completed on a Merlin engine. Results to be issued at once by Lr{Mr Ellor}/Fmr.

PART II - (A) POWER PLANT.

ADVANCE DEVELOPMENT OF INSTALLATION FEATURES.

No special comments.

PART II - (B) GRIFFON HENLEY FLIGHT TESTING.

POWER PLANT. - Engine being prepared. Decision as to the size of airscrew shaft to be used is held over pending analysis of results of torsiograph tests.

PART II - (C) - GRIFFON MARTIN BAKER INSTALLATION.

No discussion.
