202? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}17/MH.{M. Huckerby} 18th. July 1938. Messrs.Ransome & Marles Bearing Co. Ltd., Newark, NOTTS. For the attention of the Technical Department. Dear Sirs, We understand on the telephone that Mr. Hickling is away on his holidays; we should, however, like to know the progress of the tests on Bentley rear axle pinion bearings in which the holes in the cages have been elongated .025. If you have successfully run the 6.M.D. bearing with such a cage for 500 hours we shall start using this bearing for customers' complaints. If you have done such a test we shall send you an order for 12 bearings having a preload from .002 to .003 with the new cage, and then subsequently return new bearings to you for these modifications to be carried out. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
