BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7725 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M1.10.27. NARROWER WIRE WHEELS - PHANTOM. X.421 X.8810 X.4586 X.3580 Herewith we send N.Sch.2477 shewing a proposal for reducing the width of the standard wire wheels, by making use of the artillery wheel hubs. The stationary hubs for the latter have been slightly modified to make a seating for the wire wheels, but either type of wheel can now be used on the same hub. It will be noticed that the thicknesses of the parts have been reduced in a good many cases with a view to reducing weight. The drg. of the wire wheel and outer hub is intended as a suggestion of what might be done, as it appears to us, and we should like to taken up with the wheel makers, any any comments they have to make sent on to us so that we can modify the design if desirable. We are awaiting particulars of the R-W wheels so that we may compare them. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
