X.9660. RE WIRING OF 40/50 GOSHAWK &

E.A.C.I. II. & III.

All these should be alike - a complete earth system like Goshawk.

I agree that there is some advantage in a semi-earth scheme but we must have the simplest, the least amount of wiring, and the most uniform system, which can be most easily understood. We do not want to make any changes other than those - firstly to do away with failures, or secondly having advantages that we cannot afford to be without. We must look very seriously to the commercial side, of the confusion caused by any change, or any want of the same scheme on all our chassis.

I understand that if we had a vibrator regulator you would be contented with the all earth scheme.

You will also realise that the Americans cannot use any other than such a scheme, and we want to keep all in line.

You will understand that there is considerably more starter heavy wiring than with the semi-earth system. You will remember that such a scheme was our best solution when we had a double wire system, because the risk of an accidental earth was much greater with the double wiring, owing to the small lamp fittings, etc.
