Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 29th. ultimo, and have pleasure in advising you that in our opinion there is far less likelihood of Jagger from our new Clutch Lining than from the material it has now practically displaced. For one thing the impregnant in the latest type lining is far more rigid, i.e. practically insoluble by heat, grease etc., hence nothing of a viscous or sticky character can work up on to the surface of the lining from within the lining itself, but should jagger occur the new fabric will respond more readily perhaps to a light application of dope than would the old type, and the dope will have no effect on the impregnant.

Generally speaking we prefer dry powdered graphite as a dressing for Clutch linings to any liquid, but see no objection to the mixture you use provided it is not overdone in quantity.

Yours faithfully,
FERODO LIMITED

(Sgd) F.J.Field

Chief Engineer.
