TESTS ON HIGH SPEED ROUGHNESS.

In order to prove whether a six cylinder engine is smooth at very high speeds, we want to run an engine above its master period. We can best do this by fitting 12 large balance weights all the same shape to the lightened shaft LeC.3486.

We attach Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1204 showing the shape of the weights. Eight of the crank webs already have flats machined on them, the other four will require the nitriding to be ground off so that the weights can be fitted.

Will you please fit up this shaft in this manner. We require this test to show whether a six cylinder can be made as smooth as an eight, if complete balance is adopted.
