Cox - Advertising Manager} 9/KW22.2.35, we find we need to ask you some more questions about this car in view of the curiosity that is aroused in the minds of prospective purchasers. We have had two or three people interested already, and each one has asked a lot of questions. This is partly due to the fact that the registration of this car was cancelled, and to the fact that we are unable to give a definite date of manufacture, that is to say we avoid doing so. In Hd {Mr Hayward / Mr Huddy} /FHA25/HR15.11.34 it is stated that the chassis is practically an "R" series with one or two minor exceptions in view of the parts that have been replaced when this car was made ready for sale. The parts replaced, however, are only four small items, i.e. exhaust system complete, fan, air silencer and rear shock damper arms. We believe that this car originally was made some years ago, and, in view of that fact if to-day with those four small changes it ranks as an "R" series, it would thus appear that substantial changes have taken place in its construction from time to time, and this we can quite understand as it is an experimental car. We presume, therefore, that the engine is not the original one. If that is so, can you tell us when the present engine, now certified as "R" series, was put into this chassis ? Likewise it would help us to know when other important units which conform to "R" series were fitted to this chassis, such as for instance - Vibrator control dynamo (R.Series) R-R controlled shock dampers P. " " Silent second speed O. {Mr Oldham} " " Engine modifications involving - 5 1/4 to 1 compression ratio cylinder head, ) O " " Semi-expanding carburetter, ) Camshaft with longer duration cams, and ) the other engine changes consequent upon ) the introduction of these improved ) engine features ) Crankshaft with balance weights O " " arranged with Hd {Mr Hayward / Mr Huddy} OK GH (contd) | ||
