DIXON 551 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Ex. Fm. E.8/HP.26.11.36. 25/30 Outside Petrol Filler - LeC.5239. We have now received an estimate for the above scheme, and on production quantities we are told that there would be an increased factory cost of £.1.12.0 per chassis compared with the present type. This figure may be slightly reduced with a canted filler orifice, enabling us to dispense with the internal nozzle guide, but we know that the scheme on this car is bound to be more complicated than on the Bentley owing to the filler having to be fixed to the end instead of the top of the petrol tank. We are anxious to get one of these outside fillers rigged up and tested as soon as possible, and the intention is to alter 22-G-V as soon as it returns to Derby. One of the points we want to know about is the effect of an increased head of petrol on the gauge unit in cases where the tank is filled up to the brim. We cannot hold out much hope of reducing the cost of this scheme. I have seen E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} JHS E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
