PHANTOM SPORTS CHASSIS. X8250

Replying to BJ&/D21.12.27. The new radiator with narrower tubes which it is proposed to fit on to the Alpine Phantom has run well over 10,000 miles on the road. Most of this running has been done under summer conditions, besides this, tests have been made which shew definitely that it is at least as efficient as the present radiator on the Phantom.

The layout of the whole of the sports chassis has been made to suit this narrower radiator - if we now attempted to fit the present standard Phantom radiator to the sports car, it would delay the job.

The car of which R.{Sir Henry Royce} approved had the narrower radiator and we know how keen he has been to get this fitted to all cars. As it has proved its efficiency in every way we do not see how we can ask him to agree to fit the present radiator on to the sports car.

It should also be remembered that the narrower radiator was designed because Sales definitely asked for it. After it has been designed, produced, proved out and run 10,000 miles, it seems a great pity that an effort cannot be made to get it into production.

We have done all we can to get this radiator adopted - the position shortly will be that we shall be producing two types of radiator on which all the parts and the appearance will be different.
