-3- (6) The dynamo speed shall be reduced until the ammeter A reading is zero, at which point it is assumed that the battery is sufficiently charged to provide a P.D. of 12 volts across the shunt coil of the cutout. The connections to this ammeter shall be then reversed, after which the speed shall gradually be reduced still further until the cutout contacts fall apart. The instant of falling away will be shown by the drop to zero of the needle of the ammeter A.{Mr Adams} The reading preceding this instant shall be noted and shall not exceed 2.0 amperes.
