X300 GRH C.R. Hives Esq. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Cry. E/HDY.{William Hardy}3/HP.10.2.36. Rear Brake Intermediate Shaft to suit Rear Springs with dropped Front Ends. - Ph.III. M.Sch.4754 herewith shows the above. The shaft has been dropped bodily 1.5", the levers being unaltered. The lower view shows the shaft to suit the long chassis. This will become the scheme for both long and short chassis but to commence with it would appear to be necessary to provide the upper view for the short chassis. To reduce cost we have deleted the needle roller bearings and substituted Oillite bushes. To reduce friction we have spread the bearing base which as we show results in a reduction of 50% compared with a base of the present amount. If it is desired to fit the Oillite bushes to cars with the present rear spring arrangement the scheme we show can be adapted to the present shaft position as shown by M.Sch.4311. The existing sheet metal bracket could be cut up to produce two separate brackets. E/HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
