This machine, an ordinary standard production Phantom II machine provided with Mr.Brocks modification to the pole pieces, has been complained of by the Test Dept. as not giving the desired increase in output, and as a result we have had this machine in our laboratory for test and observed its output performance. In this particular instance we found the peak output to be no greater than standard, though, as expected, the output at speed is greater by about 2 amperes and the cutting in speed increased. We do not think the desired increase in output has been obtained, and as we understand from Mr.Maddocks that there should be plenty of time to provide a suitable machine for this car, we suggest that the instruction contained in our EFC3/AD28.1.30 of providing an ordinary higher output Phantom II machine should be proceeded with. The present case appears to be one in which it is justifiable to provide a big increase of output at speed without the reduced charge switching. EFC. | ||
