RE. 10,000 MILES TEST OF LATEST TYPE SPLIT ALUMINIUM PISTONS.

Yesterday's run on chassis 36-TW - 336 miles.
Total miles since pistons fitted - 5430.

Report :-

Engine dismantled - carbon deposit cleaned off top band of pistons, also from bore of cylinders.

Carbon left on combustion head and crown of piston.

When engine re-erected, elusive knocks not noticeable, but re-appeared intermittently after 20 miles running. After 300 miles, knocks still as bad as before.
