20 HP. STEERING COLUMNS.

Referring to R1/M24.6.29. whilst we can easily arrange the scheme for the proposed new 'D' 2" shorter than at present, we think that the 'E' position now proposed which represents 'D' + 2" and a lower steering wheel position, requires careful looking into at WW., and a scheme getting out to cover R's requirements.

The best that we have been able to do has been to lower the steering wheel 1", anything further than this will interfere with the pedal design, as it means that the column is too close to the pedals to permit of the pedals being operated easily by anybody with a normal foot.

We are sending you a layout of what we have been able to do so far for one or two special customers' requirements. If this will meet R's views we could certainly get ahead with this quickly.

We would like to know Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s attitude in regard to the adoption of 'A' and 'B' for the second half of 'P' series. For the first half we committed ourselves to 25 chassis with long frames, and 100 chassis with short frames.
