WRAITH WATER PUMP THRUST PADS & BUSHES.

Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.11/JH.14.12.38, Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms. has now finished quotations for moulded pieces from Messrs. Ferodo Ltd. and also quotations for rod and tube material. G/Rb.{R. Bowen} has also supplied R.R. machining costs.

It is seen that with the limits to which Ferodo's can work with moulded pieces, this method of manufacture is impracticable. The material cost, however, if Ferobestos is bought as rod and tube, is approx. 2 3/4d. for EW.1991 piece and 1d. for EW.1997 piece, while the labour and charge cost for machining them here (supplied by G/Rb.{R. Bowen}) is 4 1/4d. for EW.1996 piece and 3 3/4d. for EW.1997 piece - hence the nett cost of these pieces machined at R.R. will be EW.1996 - 7d. each, EW.1997 - 4 3/4d. each. The nett tool cost for each piece is £9.10.0d - since these pieces are to be used on Wraith and B.V., we recommend that the material is bought from Messrs. Ferodo, and machined at R.R. Ltd. - please ignore memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}18/JH.30.12.38.
