Dear Sirs,

Crankshaft Torsional Vibrations.

We are much obliged to you for the information given in your communication of the 23rd.instant, addressed to Major Carter.

The increase of stiffness obtained with the new 20 H.P. shaft by increasing the journal diameter slightly and adopting oval webs is of considerable interest to us as we were anxious to have a definite check on the effectiveness of web thickness indicated by the formula - and your comparative tests provide this.

With reference to item (3) of your letter, we will send you a copy of the curve you require within a few days.

We return herewith the table with the frequency values filled in.

Yours faithfully,

(Signature: H Wimperis)
