ENGLAND BREWSTER BUILDING, LONG ISLAND CITY STILLWELL 4-8240 Long Island City November 16, 1937 Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby, England. Dear Mr. Robotham: This will acknowledge your letter of the 25th to Mr. Inskip, which has been turned over to me, in regard to high pressure fuel pumps. We note you say this is a cure for vapor lock, and we are pleased to have this information. We did write to England on November 10th as per copy of letter enclosed which is self-explanatory, as we were not aware of the real reason for fitting these new pumps; we did not know whether it was due to the old ones being inefficient or some other reason. Your letter, of course, clears this up. However, I do wish to emphasize we are having considerable trouble due to failure of the smaller pump. If in your opinion you feel the high pressure pump would eliminate some of these failures, then I think it would be advisable to install these in all cars that have been sold in this country. You can appreciate it is indeed very serious when a customer meets with pump failure as it usually happens when they are far from the New York service station. We have also received from Derby three sets of high speed fans for installing in cases of complaint of overheating. Of course these complaints will be less during the winter months, although we will have one or two cars down in Florida and it may be necessary to undertake the installation down there. We will probably have a regular service man located there for the winter months and he would naturally take care of any serious complaint. I do not wish to cross wires by writing you on the subject, as I presume our previous letter of the 10th will probably be in someone's hands for decision. However, we would appreciate your help in recommending what steps should be taken in regard to this matter. Very truly yours, J.S. INSKIP, INC S. Adkins Vice President H.Adkins:LA{L. A. Archer} | ||
