With reference to the heavier type flywheels which you are producing by leaving on as much metal as the forgings will permit, in view of the trouble experienced by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} with the lightened type flywheels introducing engine periods we have discussed the matter with the Experimental Department, and it is considered advisable to allow the heavy flywheels to be fitted on production engines. In the meantime, we hope Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} will be able to carry out tests (within the next few days) in order to see how much improvement is obtained, also that no other snags arise.
