Please note that Mr Royce wishes us to test the rating of these springs over their whole range of action, to see if they behave like a common helical spring or not. The load necessary to cause each inch of movement from free to the point of maximum deflection should be taken & we can then plot a characteristic curve.
The springs to be tested are the present standard springs with sheared ends. Springs of constant thickness of plates.
