1269 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms. C. By/CS. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.11/JH.14.12.38. Our attention has been drawn to the quotation which the D.O. have received from Messrs. Ferodo, for Ferobestos thrust bushes (water pump) to EW.1996 and Ferobestos thrust discs (water pump) to EW.1997 - the figures being 11½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} and 1/2½d each respectively. These figures are excessive and we have taken the matter up with Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., who state that the reason is that they would have to machine these pieces and that they are not equipped for economical machining. Actually the pieces in question have only one fine limit on each and these could be relaxed somewhat - we have asked Messrs. Ferodo Ltd. therefore to look into the question of moulding these parts and requote accordingly. However if it turns out that these parts cannot be moulded practicably, we suggest that it would be much cheaper to machine them in our Works than to buy them completely machined, especially if drawing limits were relaxed to suit, from Messrs. Ferodo Ltd. We would like R.H.C's. ruling on this subject. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
