R.R. 493a (50 M) (D.D. 31.12-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. +5840 REF Has/1028.9.25. To R; from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. RJ. c. to AG. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EY. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 9-G-111. X.5840 10,000 MILES TEST IN FRANCE. X.5420 We have examined the front axle on 9-G-111 car which has just returned from a 10,000 miles test in France. We find that this front axle has twisted considerably. We attach a blue print which gives particulars of the amount of twist. This car has not been in an accident. After the first 10,000 miles running in France the axle was gone over and found to be correct. The twist occurred during the second 10,000 miles. You will note in CWB's report CWB12/LH{Mr Haworth}22.9.25. he states that on one occasion the steering took charge when the front brakes were applied. The twist has taken place in the same position on the axle as it occurred on the production car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
