RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EAC. THROTTLE GOVERNOR
ALTERATIONS.

Taking the 40/50 HP. governor performance as being the ideal in view, we recommend :-

(1) That the formation of the cam should be altered (as far as is consistent with the running required) to give a more rapid initial throttle opening, and that the total range of governed movement of the throttle should be increased to 40°, at least.

(2) That the leverage from the hand quadrant should be arranged to give 75% more deflection on a spring 50% weaker than the present one.

(3) From the point of view of the governor control (as opposed to the tendency of butterfly throttles to hunt), we consider that it would have been more satisfactory to put the slow [word overtyped with 'xx'] opening device on the quadrant side of the linkage and leave the governor free to produce a constant throttle opening for any given movement at the end of its lever.
