446 - 20-ob. February 14th.1938 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.4/AP. Messrs Silentbloc Ltd., Victoria Gardens, Ladbroke Road, Notting Hill Gate, LONDON W.11. For the attention of Mr.Jelley. Dear Sirs, I have been examining your quotation dated Feb.7th. for the floatex units SE.11334 and PE.10625. On December 16th. I phoned you about the price ofthese units, as we found that the cost of our body mounting with these units was impossible. We use 12 units per chassis. We are testing alternative body mountings, and are sure we can find a satisfactory method if you are unable to help us with your prices. In your letter to me dated 16.12.37 you mention a figure of 1/8d. each for 2000 units with £10 tool cost. We should like tompay a separate tool cost so that your figures can be competitive and I enclose 2 new prints with increased limits and calling for piecing of the holes. In view of alternative units which cost under a shilling, we do not at the moment intend to order more than 840 FW.250 and 420 FW.380, unless you can give us a lot of encouragement. I have not seen anything of new bushes to replace FB.3143/4 which we discussed when you were last at our Works with Mr.Harris. We have run 2 more comparative tests between the Inlox and your bush. In the first case your bush was just superior and the second case your bush distinctly inferior. We presume that in the second case the bush had been fitted the other way round. We have run short of your lists of Silentbloc bushes. Can continued | ||
