The performance and efficiency of a servo mechanism.

The values of μ were calculated taking into account the wrapping action of the two servo shoes, and the average value .36 for μ agrees fairly well with the value given by Ferodo's for the speed of the drum during experiments. The efficiency of the servo decreased as the temperature increased, but no consistent results were obtained. For a constant load on the pedal, the efficiency decreased with the time until a value was reached at which the ratio torque output / torque input remained constant. This was the point at which the temperature remained constant. The efficiency also tended to increase with the speed of rotation of the servo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL. | ||
