E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Fowler Clark,

Thanks for yours of January 27th with enclosures, which I have read very carefully and which I find very interesting. Your E.F.C.4/T. 22-1-27 is very interesting and I agree with what you say but I do not know that I agree as to the desirability of leaving out the charging switch altogether. I rather fancy people have done this before but have reverted to it later, and I think one might get a set of circumstances where you want definitely to be able to switch the charge off and isolate the battery from the dynamo, perhaps if something was wrong with the system, for example.

With regard to the other matters you mention, I do not think we have heard from Mr. Day about his battery yet.

With regard to the reduced charging rate on my car, I am now resuming the use of this and will let you know more about it later.

I am sorry to hear Mr. Royce's suggestion re tungsten points. I think the platinum are the better and I do not think I like my tungsten ones.

With regard to Mr. Royce's attitude towards the auto-charge reducing switch, have you had any comments from him on the various notes that you have written? I think he will be more
