Sole Licensees for STELMAR PATENT COMBINED ANTI-GLARE HEADLAMP AND FOGLAMP for all classes of Motor Vehicles Handwritten number: 86116. 7th December, 1934. Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., 15, Conduit Street, LONDON, W.1. Dear Sirs, "Stelmar" Fog and Anti-Dazzle Lamp. We have now developed, as the result of exhaustive scientific research work over several years, a fog and anti-dazzle lamp which is based on entirely revolutionary optical principles, which are shortly set out in the accompanying pamphlet. The result of our research work has been the production of a Lamp which is completely free from all dazzle beams, and actual driving tests have been carried out during the past two winters. We attach copy of a letter from Captain Baker, Chief Air Pilot at Heston Aerodrome, one of the users of this lamp, which speaks for itself. Although there are a number of Fog-Lamps on the Market with so-called cut-off beams, in all cases where we have tested such lamps, we have found that there is a very large portion of light leakage above the horizontal line of the beam. We have a demonstration room in this office in which these Lamps are fitted up to show the definite cut-off which can be produced, and we should welcome a member of your Technical Staff at anytime to see this demonstration, which can be arranged over the telephone if you would ring up 4173 Victoria. The lamps have been seen here by technical experts of the Ministry of Transport who have been much impressed by the results shown, presumably in view of the proposals which they are investigating in regard to anti-dazzle lamps. We have already fitted up one Rolls Royce Car with our lamps and we have now several enquiries in hand for substitution of so-called anti-dazzle and fog-lamps supplied with your cars. Yours faithfully, for BANTING & TRESILIAN, LTD. [Signature] AST/DMW. Copy sent to your Derby Office. | ||
