The Expl: Dept: have reminded us that R.{Sir Henry Royce} has made a suggestion that for fast cars it would be desirable to fit both our standard hydraulic damper and the Hartford frictional. They have asked us to look into the question of providing an axle attachment. We think, however, this is essentially a design question which should be dealt with from WW., particularly as at the moment we are over-burdened with work and see no prospect of handling this work in the near future.

In addition, Expl: Dept: are also asking us to look into the question of improving the geometry of the 20 HP. steering. Here again we think it is essentially a question of design. There is no object in us roughing out something which may not meet requirements. We therefore think it far better WW. should tackle this matter and give us a thoroughly considered design.

We are quite willing to do anything in the way of making layouts, but we do not wish to deal with matters which are essentially design features, particularly as at the moment we have so much work in hand, and with a depleted staff there is little prospect of getting it done.
