Petrol Tank We enclose herewith 2 prints of PL.177. 12 Gallon Petrol Tank. The petrol tank carcass is produced in two halves & stitch welded together, we intend to use the same die for both the top &, bottom halves. We wish to try this tank without interior baffles and vent pipes for filling, and fumes in order to reduce weight. The carcass weight per gallon if we use .022(24swg)thick lead coated gauge will be .775lbs per gallon which is quite good when taking into consideration that the tank is not of the best economical shape due to the spare wheel being the boot. This scheme also shews a sheet metal rear crossmember instead of the tubular one as used on Bentley 5. A scheme shewing the rear spring shackle to suit the sheet CROSSMEMBER will follow.
