Dear Breeden,

About your letter of the 5th. of June, I am afraid we have no excuse but the letter to which you refer must have been mislaid.

Since the G.P.O. is an extremely reliable institution, we assume that it went astray either in our inter-office communications or in our mailing.

Anyhow, all our efforts to trace it have produced no results and I can only assure you that it will be sent to you immediately if it does come to light.
